The General recommendation is currently: Healthy adults can, without hesitation, up to 400 milligrams of caffeine spread throughout the day to take. As a single dose up to 200 milligrams of caffeine is regarded as harmless to health.
A decisive factor in how much caffeine exactly is harmless to health, is the body weight:
- For adults per kilogram of body weight 3 milligrams of caffeine as a single dose 5.7 milligrams spread throughout the day as unproblematic.
- For children and young people apply per kilogram of body weight to a maximum of 3 milligrams of caffeine as harmless, no matter whether as a single dose or spread throughout the day.
How much is the caffeine content of coffee depends on the coffee variety, roasting, and preparation. On average, plug in 100 mm filter coffee litres, about 45 milligrams of caffeine. The maximum recommended amount for adults is equivalent to approximately four to five cups of coffee filter coffee (1 coffee Cup = about 1 eighth of a liter).
The kind of people who drinks a lot of coffee, should then, however, no further caffeine-containing drinks or food (such as black tea, energy drinks, and chocolate) to take.
According to the German heart Foundation can people with high blood pressure coffee in the recommended maximum amount of drinking. Who, however, heart rhythm disorders , the by coffee increase, better decaf coffee (or the beverage dispense).
